About MitraMitra

Aniruddha Mitra (or simply “Mitra” for short) was born in Calcutta in 1987. He studied Physics at St. Stephen’s College in Delhi graduating in 2009. He was awarded an Erasmus Mundus scolarship to move to Europe and pursue a Master degree in Nanoscience and nanobiophysics at KU Leuven and TU Dresden where he graduated in 2011. Afterwards he joined the laboratory of Prof. Stephan Diez at the B CUBE – Center fo Molecular Bioengineering to carry out research on “understanding the biophysical properties of cellular nanomachines” for which he was awarded a PhD degree in 2017.

Ultimately, what am I seeking? An appreciation of the beauty in what exists. Understanding more by exploring and engaging in informed discourse can only enhance the process.. the elusive goal is to be on a perpetual high.

About Nacho

Ignacio Gonzalez (a.k.a Nacho) was born in Mexico City in 1984. He studied Physics at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) graduating in 2009. He then moved to Germany to study a Master in Nanobiophysics at the TU Dresden obtaining his degree in 2011. Later he joined Prof. Mark Rummeli’s group at the Leibniz Institute for Solid State Research in Dresden to work on the “synthesis of nanostructures inside a Transmission Electron Microscope” for which he obtained a PhD degree in 2016.

If I could summarize what moves me as briefly as I can, I would have to say that that is the pursuit of a deeper understanding of the universe and everything that it contains. I realize that this is a task grander than what any single individual can accomplish and accordingly my goal is not – cannot be – to complete it. I am delighted simply by learning as much as I can about whatever I can put my hands on. Happily, that which we do not know is infinitely larger than that which we know. Thus, if the ultimate goal is to reach an absolute understanding of everything that is, I know that I will never be able to get a glimpse of the light at the end of the tunnel… that puts a smile on my face.
